GoCloud hosted desktops help accountants deliver unrivalled value for their clients through remote working.
Even before the coronavirus lockdown, the option to work remotely gave accountants the ability to maximise their productivity levels.
Whether it’s from home, a client’s premises or even on the go, hosted desktops allow you to access your familiar desktop experience from anywhere in the world.
As long as you have an internet connection, all of your usual emails, files, folders, spreadsheets, software and shortcuts are available on any device, transforming your surroundings into a functioning workspace.
As well as the convenience that this brings, hosted desktops
also give accountants the opportunity to work from home more
often, which in turn can reduce expenditure and greatly increase
output on a daily basis.
Whilst lowering overheads when it comes to travel, fuel and the company’s utility bills, hosted desktops bring an additional saving.
Accountancy firms are dependent upon Microsoft Office for everything from creating Word documents to monitoring budgets through Excel.
Purchasing the licenses for this software can prove very expensive, especially when you have multiple accountants, managers and office staff, which has a huge impact on your cash flow and profit margins.
The solution is very straightforward, as GoCloud can provide Microsoft Office ProPlus or Standard versions through our own Microsoft Services Provider License Agreement.
This helps to lower monthly costs, plus you also gain the peace of mind that each user’s Microsoft applications are updated automatically and simultaneously without you having to lift a finger.
This ensures consistency and compatibility across your
accountancy firm and gives everyone the power to share and
collaborate on documents to maximum effect.
One of the biggest worries that accountants say they have when it comes to working online is security, such as the threat of malware and hackers.
That’s why we’ve designed our hosted desktops to be totally secure.
We do it through 256-bit encryption, powerful antivirus software, two-factor authentication, ISO 27001 certification, and an isolated Citrix/Windows environment, which means that your server is located on individual hardware that isn’t shared with any other users.
Put simply, all of your employees will be using a highly robust
hosted desktop infrastructure that’s built with security at its
very core and monitored 24/7 by our technicians.
As your accountancy business develops and expands, you can rest assured that GoCloud can keep up with demand.
Whether it’s adding individual users as and when required or delivering multiple hosted desktops when you open a new office, we can supply everything you need in no time at all.
You can also rest assured that if your workforce decreases for any reason, you have the ability to downscale our hosted desktop services as required.
The result is no wasted costs and the flexibility to scale up again as soon as you need to.

You are able to download your data whenever you want. Depending on how much data you have, you can copy the data via a mapped drive, download via FTP, or we can send you USB hard drives.
A hosted desktop is a Windows desktop containing your applications, which you use to access your files and data from. Files can be stored on a hosted file server, data can be on a database server such as SQL Server. Our hosted desktop service comes with the desktops, file server and a firewall, all dedicated to you and not shared with other customers.
No. Customers can use any PC, Mac or Linux machine to connect to their hosted desktop. One of the initial cost-savings is the ability to continue to use existing PCs. As the processing power, memory, and storage are provided by our servers, customers are even able to use older PCs that would be unable to run a new Operating System themselves, thereby extending their working lives and ROI. Alternatively, you may decide to supply thin clients, to further enhance the benefits of moving to a hosted desktop environment. Thin clients are physically smaller PCs; they cost less than a normal PC (aka a "fat client"), and use a lot less energy. Of course, as a hybrid measure they may opt to simply replace existing computers with thin clients as they begin to fail. Hosted desktops will also work on laptops, tablet devices such as the iPad and smartphones such as the iPhone.
Firstly, we recommend using a backup internet service if required, such as ADSL or a dongle if mobile. Secondly, if you lose your connection to your hosted desktop, when you regain your connection, your desktop is exactly as you left it, with all applications and data intact.
