GoCloud hosted desktops help legal practices raise the bar by giving them the freedom to work from anywhere.
There’s a lot of data that comes with running a law firm, all of which has to be instantly accessible whilst protected against mishaps.
By choosing hosted desktops from GoCloud, you gain the peace of mind that every document, spreadsheet, email and piece of data is backed up daily in our robust UK data centres.
Meanwhile, in the event of your hardware malfunctioning, your authorised users can access their password protected desktops from any device with an internet connection, enabling solicitors and other employees to continue as normal.
We then have business continuity, which is a requirement of the Law Society’s Lexcel accreditation.
Even in the event of a flood, fire, natural disaster, system
failure or theft, you know that all of your data is safely
stored on our robust and secure servers, enabling your business
to meet and surpass all legal practice management standards.
Due to hosted desktops presenting each user with their usual desktop experience, your solicitors and office staff can work from anywhere at any time.
This doesn’t just mean home working, as hosted desktops give you the opportunity to work from a client’s site, whilst attending events, during your commute and even when you’re in court.
Rather than wasting time loading sensitive files to a USB stick or transferring them to a laptop, a hosted desktop allows you to take your virtual desktop everywhere you go and access it on a PC, Mac, Linux machine, laptop, iPad, iPhone, Android or Blackberry.
This greatly increases productivity and consistency, as there
are no lost working hours due to lack of access to files and a
complete absence of data security risks.
Data-heavy businesses often reach their limit and the system becomes clunky and unreliable.
To rectify the situation, some law practices decide to delete files that are deemed nonessential, which may actually be needed in the future.
The problem of hitting the data cap then occurs again, most probably sooner if your business is growing at a steady rate.
This is a completely unnecessary problem that is eliminated by hosted desktops.
We store everything you need and we will never run out of space, so your company can store as much data as required with the added benefit of it all being protected by the following security features:
Having all of your data stored in one secure place is also
excellent for GDPR compliance – another tick box when it comes
to client confidentiality and data privacy.
Last but certainly not least, hosted desktops can help you to reduce numerous costs, including those associated with software licenses, data storage, electricity consumption, IT support (our technicians are on hand as part of the service) and the constant maintaining, repairing and upgrading of on-site servers that have now been rendered superfluous.

You are able to download your data whenever you want. Depending on how much data you have, you can copy the data via a mapped drive, download via FTP, or we can send you USB hard drives.
A hosted desktop is a Windows desktop containing your applications, which you use to access your files and data from. Files can be stored on a hosted file server, data can be on a database server such as SQL Server. Our hosted desktop service comes with the desktops, file server and a firewall, all dedicated to you and not shared with other customers.
No. Customers can use any PC, Mac or Linux machine to connect to their hosted desktop. One of the initial cost-savings is the ability to continue to use existing PCs. As the processing power, memory, and storage are provided by our servers, customers are even able to use older PCs that would be unable to run a new Operating System themselves, thereby extending their working lives and ROI. Alternatively, you may decide to supply thin clients, to further enhance the benefits of moving to a hosted desktop environment. Thin clients are physically smaller PCs; they cost less than a normal PC (aka a "fat client"), and use a lot less energy. Of course, as a hybrid measure they may opt to simply replace existing computers with thin clients as they begin to fail. Hosted desktops will also work on laptops, tablet devices such as the iPad and smartphones such as the iPhone.
Firstly, we recommend using a backup internet service if required, such as ADSL or a dongle if mobile. Secondly, if you lose your connection to your hosted desktop, when you regain your connection, your desktop is exactly as you left it, with all applications and data intact.
