GoCloud hosted desktops help energy companies introduce a brighter way of working.
Let’s start with something that’s great for all types of businesses but is particularly relevant for energy suppliers.
Hosted desktops use less electricity and are more environmentally friendly, which are huge ticks for a utility company that wants to lead by example through sustainable systems and eco-friendly practices.
The reason for this significant reduction of energy consumption is that a hosted desktop can be accessed from any device via the internet.
This removes the need for bulky servers on your site, which aside from using tons of electricity themselves also require a severely air conditioned environment around the clock.
There’s also the option to replace old hardware with thin clients, which are specially designed to access hosted desktops through an online connection.
Due to the pressure on this equipment being significantly
lower, it uses a lot less energy than your current arrangement.
When you choose hosted desktops, you’re giving all of your employees the option to work on any device from anywhere at any time.
If you’re able to offer remote working opportunities, having staff work from home even only occasionally can help you to reduce office costs.
This comes from savings on everything from utilities,
provisions, stationery, and printing to any and every expense
that you usually reimburse.
GoCloud hosted desktops are all about performance.
This doesn’t simply apply to our own technology and technical support, as we also enable your staff to achieve more on a daily basis.
Hosted desktops are fast, reliable, accessible and built for precision, so you’ll no longer have to worry about data and files being incomplete, corrupted or misplaced.
Likewise, you can bid farewell to the age-old problem of multiple employees working on the same files and databases, only to then have inconsistent versions that need amalgamating and then going over with a fine-tooth comb.
Thanks to documents being stored in our UK data centres rather than on individual hardware, co-workers can collaborate on documents simultaneously, keeping edits and comments in one place.
Last but by no means least, the speed and extremely high uptime of GoCloud’s hosted desktops enables the ability to work at any time of day or night, without the frustration and disruption of clunky and unresponsive systems.
This is a huge advantage to many departments, but especially
those revolving around customer service and tech support.
Energy suppliers create and store an incredible amount of data, much of which is confidential.
You don’t want your sensitive company files and customer information being leaked out, damaged by malware or accessed by unapproved parties, so you can rest assured that we’ve placed data protection at the heart of our hosted desktops.
Preventing everything from viruses and hackers to GDPR breaches and unauthorised staff accessing confidential files, the following security measures will give you complete peace of mind:

"There were no upfront capital costs, we could save on energy bills, and we could pay for their service monthly."
"The service is incredibly reliable and since working with them we have had a smooth, fast and stable platform."

You are able to download your data whenever you want. Depending on how much data you have, you can copy the data via a mapped drive, download via FTP, or we can send you USB hard drives.
A hosted desktop is a Windows desktop containing your applications, which you use to access your files and data from. Files can be stored on a hosted file server, data can be on a database server such as SQL Server. Our hosted desktop service comes with the desktops, file server and a firewall, all dedicated to you and not shared with other customers.
No. Customers can use any PC, Mac or Linux machine to connect to their hosted desktop. One of the initial cost-savings is the ability to continue to use existing PCs. As the processing power, memory, and storage are provided by our servers, customers are even able to use older PCs that would be unable to run a new Operating System themselves, thereby extending their working lives and ROI. Alternatively, you may decide to supply thin clients, to further enhance the benefits of moving to a hosted desktop environment. Thin clients are physically smaller PCs; they cost less than a normal PC (aka a "fat client"), and use a lot less energy. Of course, as a hybrid measure they may opt to simply replace existing computers with thin clients as they begin to fail. Hosted desktops will also work on laptops, tablet devices such as the iPad and smartphones such as the iPhone.
Firstly, we recommend using a backup internet service if required, such as ADSL or a dongle if mobile. Secondly, if you lose your connection to your hosted desktop, when you regain your connection, your desktop is exactly as you left it, with all applications and data intact.
