GoCloud hosted desktops help training companies improve client services with the freedom to work remotely.
A hosted desktop takes your usual desktop experience (files, folders, emails, software, settings, wallpaper – absolutely all of it) and makes it available from any device that has an internet connection.
This means that you work as normal, except that it can be on any PC, Mac, Linux machine, laptop, iPad, iPhone, Android or Blackberry whether you’re on the premises or not.
It’s also guaranteed to be a much faster, smoother and secure
working arrangement, making it a no-brainer for business owners.
As mentioned above, hosted desktops allow you and your staff to access your individual desktops from anywhere at any time.
The benefits of this are numerous, including the ease of remote
working, improved productivity and workflow, lower utility bills
due to the system being energy-efficient, and constant access to
all of the documents, software and communications you need even
if you can’t get to the office.
As well as helping staff to optimise how they work, your trainees and delegates can greatly benefit from hosted desktops.
With virtual courses and blended learning becoming increasingly popular, delivering these through a hosted desktop infrastructure ensures that the customer experience is second to none.
No more missing data, sluggish applications, online tests that crash halfway through or not enough devices to accommodate every learner, as hosted desktops solve all of these problems from day one.
We understand that businesses in the training sector need to store massive amounts of data, much of which is highly confidential.
With learners and delegates sharing their personal information and payment details with your company, you need a system that can handle it all without a hitch, all while protecting it against loss, viruses, leaks and theft.
A hosted desktop infrastructure from GoCloud ensures that every piece of data you own is securely stored in our sophisticated UK data centres.
This means that the data is kept in one secure location rather than on multiple devices, which helps you to remain GDPR compliant.
Meanwhile, our hosted desktops include numerous other security features as standard that could otherwise come with large bills each month:
The vast majority of modern businesses want to keep their operations running smoothly whilst somehow reducing their carbon footprint.
This can be a difficult target to reach, unless of course you ask GoCloud to install hosted desktops across your workforce.
First of all, your computers and other devices won’t have to work as hard when accessing hosted desktops, which means they’ll be using less electricity.
Then there’s your existing servers, which are no longer required because all of your data is hosted within our market-leading infrastructure.
Servers eat up huge quantities of electricity and also need to be kept very cool, so you can say goodbye to these unnecessary costs too.
Saving the best for last, you have the option to replace your existing PCs with thin clients.
These efficient and affordable machines are designed specifically to access hosted desktops via the internet, making them the most energy-efficient and environmentally friendly option available.
You’ll soon find that your carbon footprint lowers dramatically, which could even help you to become a carbon neutral business when combined with other green initiatives.

You are able to download your data whenever you want. Depending on how much data you have, you can copy the data via a mapped drive, download via FTP, or we can send you USB hard drives.
A hosted desktop is a Windows desktop containing your applications, which you use to access your files and data from. Files can be stored on a hosted file server, data can be on a database server such as SQL Server. Our hosted desktop service comes with the desktops, file server and a firewall, all dedicated to you and not shared with other customers.
No. Customers can use any PC, Mac or Linux machine to connect to their hosted desktop. One of the initial cost-savings is the ability to continue to use existing PCs. As the processing power, memory, and storage are provided by our servers, customers are even able to use older PCs that would be unable to run a new Operating System themselves, thereby extending their working lives and ROI. Alternatively, you may decide to supply thin clients, to further enhance the benefits of moving to a hosted desktop environment. Thin clients are physically smaller PCs; they cost less than a normal PC (aka a "fat client"), and use a lot less energy. Of course, as a hybrid measure they may opt to simply replace existing computers with thin clients as they begin to fail. Hosted desktops will also work on laptops, tablet devices such as the iPad and smartphones such as the iPhone.
Firstly, we recommend using a backup internet service if required, such as ADSL or a dongle if mobile. Secondly, if you lose your connection to your hosted desktop, when you regain your connection, your desktop is exactly as you left it, with all applications and data intact.
